Stand Up Paddle (SUP)

Originating in Hawaii Stand up paddle boarding began in the 1960’s as a training method for surfers but gained popularity over time as a recreational activity of its own! SUP offers a unique water experience as it gives you a fresh perspective on the movement of the water and lets you peer into the lake beneath your feet. The upright position provides a full body workout, and the balance required to stay upright on your board is incredible for core strengthening. Luckily the width of the board makes it easy to balance on calm waters, allowing for an entirely new environment for yoga and meditation anywhere you can paddle to! Perfect for the beginner SUP allows all skill levels to enjoy the water on their board moving to different water conditions as you get more comfortable and sure footed on your board. 

South Coast offers many different ways to enjoy a day of SUP: 

We offer two different types of SUP boards for rental – all rentals require a quick 15 minute lesson on the basics of the board and we offer board rentals for the following:

Rentals include life jacket, paddle and board    

Costs: $25 per 1hr

 $40 per 2hrs or 2 persons for 1hr

$75 per day / $150 for 3 days / $300 per week

 Waterford Paddle Nights

We're hosting a paddle night every Wednesday in downtown Waterford. There will SUP boards, canoes and kayaks to rent and demo, plus lessons and SUP Yoga.

Bring your own canoe, kayak or SUP board and join in on the fun!

We’ll be meeting at Shadow Lake on Alice Street just across from the Waterford Antique Market. Waterford has an amazing system of ponds and lakes to enjoy and is the perfect spot to learn how to SUP.

Paddling will begin at 5:00 and go till dusk.

Cost:
10 Rental punch card - $150
Drop-in rental $25 – Family Discount 2 to 6 for $20 each
If you have your own boat it’s free!

 SUP Race Training - New for 2015!

Join coaches Ty Backus & Jonah Logan on their personal SUP training paddles.

Sessions will be flatwater, open water or downwind paddles depending on water conditions. These are one hour interval based, heart rate monitored sessions.
